The great Palio
We are in Siena and are getting ready for the big town horse race. It happens twice a year and is a huge deal for the locals. The horses are blessed in the church before they race. The main square is turned into a track by putting up mattresses along the walls and dirt is brought in and packed down. We are a little nervous about going... Supposedly 60,000 people are packed into the middle of the square to watch and you can't get out for a couple hours till the race and parade are over. I will try to post pics while we are inside!

Nightime in Roma
The colesseo, the Roman Forum
Sorry everyone with the week of no posting. We just have no time, or I a sleeping, lots of siestas around here. I love it :)
So le me post a little of every thing so far....
The colesso, amazing. Our jaws both dropped when we walked out of the train station.
We then went over to the Roman forum. Also amazing with all the history.

Rome (Day 2) The Football Game!
So after our Vatican sightseeing half day Jay had to watch the Italy soccer game where the locals do. After much asking around he found out that there was one of I think six FIFA Fan Fest in Rome. We figured out what area it was in but still were not sure exactly where it was. Well once we got off the Metro there were just flocks of Italians in gear all heading to the same place. We knew where to go from there. Follow the swarms of Italians!
I don't think either of us expected this. We thought they would just be showing the game but it was a full fledged festival.
The fans were all geared up and ready to support Italy. Maybe one of Jays happiest moments of his life.
This was when they were singing the Italian national anthem. So much pride I can't express it in words. Sorry USA, Italy pride beats ours by a million. As most of you know, Italy lost. There were many with tears in their eyes. But it was an awesome experience. Probably our best memory so far.
